Horsemen of the Apocalypse- Appearing out of nowhere, members of the "First Battalion of Mountaineers, California Volunteers" would ride into Native villages and execute everyone, then burn the village, extinguishing entire cultures in the space of a night. Sometimes they would take children to be slaves, and women to be prostitutes. These scenes were repeated across northern California. Truly the coming of the Apocalypse to indigenous cultures.
